Gilda Radner was an American comedian and actress, best known as one of the original cast members of the groundbreaking television sketch comedy show "Saturday Night Live" (SNL).


Radner's comedic talent and versatility were instrumental in the early success of SNL, where she created and portrayed a vast array of memorable characters, including the bumbling Roseanne Roseannadanna, the nerdy Lisa Loopner, and the hard-of-hearing Emily Litella.


Her work on SNL earned her an Emmy Award and made her an icon of American comedy. Radner's style, characterized by her fearless approach to comedy and her ability to infuse her characters with depth and humanity, has influenced countless comedians.


Beyond SNL, Radner appeared in several films and Broadway shows. Her off-screen life, including her marriage to actor Gene Wilder, was widely followed by fans. Radner's memoir, "It's Always Something," detailed her experiences, including her battle with ovarian cancer, which she fought publicly to raise awareness about the disease.


She passed away in 1989, but her legacy continues through the Gilda's Club, a support network for people with cancer.
