Design Notes
Guitar Reference: All hi-gain tones were dialed in using a neck-thru Gibson Explorer with an EMG 81 in the bridge in both E and Dropped D tuning.
Cabinet Reference: All captures are referenced using my custom built cabinets and a Mesa Boogie Rectifier 4x12 cabinet to ensure you will have access to a comperable cabinet.
SOUND DISCLAIMER
You might find that some captures/presets aren’t to your liking—and that’s okay. There are a few reasons why this happens:
Headphones Matter: Consumer earbuds or headphones often color the sound. For accurate results, use flat-response studio headphones but realize these were not built out for headphones.
Cab Choice Impacts Tone: Every cabinet has its own voice. That’s why I provide multiple captures—so you can find what works best for your setup.
Your Guitar Counts: Pickups, wiring, woods—they all shape your tone. All captures were made using a Gibson Explorer with an EMG 81 at the bridge as reference, so results may vary.
IR Use: Many people today are using Impulse Response files to replicate various speakers and cabinets that further modify amplifiers. My captures take this into account. If the sound you hear is not what you are looking for try a IR Mesa 2X12 or 4X12 cabinet capture or the real cabinets as they were referenced in my own studio captures.
In a proper studio environment, the Raw or Normal captures should give you a very accurate representation of what I hear. Still, tone is subjective. I’ve done my best to provide high-quality captures, but I know we won’t all hear them the same way.
Thanks again for checking out my work—hope you enjoy!
