STORYLINE

The Jerk (1979) is a comedy classic that follows the misadventures of Navin R. Johnson, played by Steve Martin. Navin is a clueless and naive man who discovers that he was adopted by a poor black family in Mississippi. Determined to find his place in the world, he sets out on a journey filled with ridiculous and humorous situations. Along the way, he becomes a millionaire by inventing a simple device, only to lose it all through a series of comical misfortunes. The film is a satirical take on the American Dream and features Martin's signature humor and physical comedy.
