STORYLINE:

In "Batman Forever," Batman faces dual threats from the disfigured criminal mastermind Two-Face, who seeks revenge on Gotham City for his downfall, and the brilliant but mad scientist Edward Nygma, who becomes The Riddler. After developing a device that can manipulate people's minds, The Riddler seeks Batman's identity and partners with Two-Face to destroy Gotham's Dark Knight. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne takes in Dick Grayson, a young circus performer who lost his family to crime, and trains him to become his partner, Robin. Together, Batman and Robin confront their adversaries while Bruce grapples with his own internal conflicts and his relationship with Dr. Chase Meridian.

STAFF REVIEW:

"Batman Forever" represents a significant departure from the darker tones of its predecessors, embracing a more flamboyant and comic-book aesthetic under Joel Schumacher's direction. Val Kilmer brings a new interpretation to the role of Batman, combining the brooding hero's complexity with a lighter touch. Jim Carrey's portrayal of The Riddler is both manic and captivating, offering a fresh villainous dynamic, while Tommy Lee Jones' Two-Face provides a stark contrast with his ruthless vendetta against Gotham and Batman. The film's emphasis on spectacle, coupled with its exploration of heroism and identity, makes it a distinctive entry in the Batman franchise, offering entertainment and introspection in equal measure.
