Storyline

Gran Torino (2008) follows the story of Walt Kowalski, a grizzled and recently widowed Korean War veteran living in a changing Detroit neighborhood. Walt's life takes an unexpected turn when Thao, a young Hmong teenager from next door, is pressured by his cousin's gang to steal Walt's prized 1972 Gran Torino. When the attempt fails, Thao and his family seek to make amends, leading to an unlikely friendship between Walt and Thao. As Walt becomes a reluctant protector of the neighborhood, he confronts his own prejudices and finds redemption.
