Set against the backdrop of the 1980s Arkansas countryside, "Minari" (2020) follows the Yi family as they navigate the challenges and joys of starting a new life far from the comfort of their community. The film delicately balances the personal and collective struggles of the family members, highlighting the tension between Jacob's ambitious dreams and the realities of farm life. STAFF REVIEW:

Lee Isaac Chung's "Minari" is a beautifully crafted film that captures the complexity of family life and the immigrant experience with grace and authenticity. The performances are uniformly excellent, with Steven Yeun delivering a deeply moving portrayal of a father driven by hope for a better future. Youn Yuh-jung's Oscar-winning role as Soon-ja adds a memorable and endearing layer to the narrative, providing both heart and humor.
