STORYLINE

"The Freshman" (1990) combines elements of crime and comedy as it follows the misadventures of Clark Kellogg after he becomes inadvertently involved with the underworld through his association with Carmine Sabatini. Sabatini, who mirrors Brando's earlier role as a mafia don, introduces Clark to a scheme that involves smuggling and the illegal sale of exotic animals. As Clark navigates through his new, unconventional job, he experiences a series of comedic mishaps and moral dilemmas, ultimately learning valuable life lessons about trust, honor, and the complexity of right and wrong.
