Has Venice Beach Become Boring?

So my entire life I have read about, seen in movies, and heard from other travelers about Venice Beach. It is not rare to hear people talk about having to visit this area if you are coming to LA. I have come to Los Angeles many times and never really had the time to go but today I made it happen, well John Supremo asked me to tag along.
So, what did I find here at the world's most talked about entertainment beach? Well, it was actually quite boring. I mean we saw a few meth heads wandering around. There was one guy with a medium-sized snake around his neck. Oh, and there was an anti-abortion activist group walking around smiling while exclaiming their anger which I found a bit confusing.
Muscle Beach was devoid of anyone with muscles. Basketball courts had kids running around on them, I thought this was a sketchy wonderland. The skatepark had a handful of people who could skate only slightly better than me. No beautiful people on the beach. Shops were so obvious and tourist-based they all seemed to blend together after about a block.
Truthfully I was bored. I had planned to spend most of the afternoon there but it was so boring I decided to cut out early and go home. I mean, Newport Beach is far more entertaining for sure and there are no meth heads and strong smells of urine. I used to live in Santa Monica but moved to Newport because of dirty sketchy areas on the beach.
In conclusion, maybe I was on some "off" day. There were plenty of people just none that were interesting or doing anything of interest. Aside from the stench and meth-heads any street in LA would provide better entertainment. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is definitely more entertaining.
If you decide to go eat before you go the food is sketchy around the main area of Muscle Beach. Walking about 10 minutes to the south you could eat at The Venice Whaler which is extremely overpriced and just ok food but the bathrooms are amazing. Get there before noon and you can typically find a spot parking right on the beach (near pickleball courts.
Supremo seemed to have a decent time even though he was having a hard time finding interesting images to shoot. He told me it was just too early in the day. The freaks come out at night lol. This had to be a fluke. I mean this is freakin Venice Beach! Now I guess I have to come back at some point and later in the evening!
